Lightweight Gear for the PCT

The concept of “hiking lightweight” is fairly new to me.

When I hiked the “Camino del Norte” in Spain, my pack was WAY (!) too heavy in the beginning.

I threw away and sent home tons of stuff.

This time, I will go “lightweight”.

Apparently, your pack qualifies as “lightweight” when your “base weight” (pack and everything in it – sans water and food) weighs less then 9kg.

(Yes, there is a lot of slang to know when one does a thru hike! )

I will need to weigh everything.

Today’s Learning

Its lightweight – or it stays at home.
